Easier said than done, right? Well let me prove it to you. First, just ask someone why they aren't practicing yoga, and prepare for one of these answers:

The gym's too far away/I'm not willing to brave the KL traffic

Now here's the proof. See this picture on the left? That's me. I don't recall ever having a beard, and my home looks more like an apartment than a cave :-)

And you know what else? I have a full-time job, a wonderful husband, dozens of hobbies, a very busy social life, and a passion for good food (nasi lemak!) and great parties (you can find out more about me here).

What I'm trying to say is I could have easily given any of the above reasons NOT to do yoga. And still, despite all these so-called hurdles…

Believe me, I was a very different person a few years back. I was constantly challenged by the stress of tight deadlines and high expectations at work. My erratic emotions affected my health, as I gained and lost weight a little too often for my liking. To add to it all, I needed a way to improve my personal and professional relationships, which were sometimes not as solid as I would have hoped.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't an unhappy person. But I knew there had to be a better way. Since I was so strapped for time, I needed an all-in-one solution. Something that could help me with my work, my physical health, my mind and even my relationships.

But since it was at my gym, and since I had tried just about everything else for a better life, I figured why not?

So I took the plunge.

The classes, although very basic, opened my eyes to the possibilities of yoga. They once again didn't give me exactly what I wanted, but they paved the way to an incredible trip to India (I'll explain more on this shortly) that gave me the wisdom I needed to use yoga for:
